As a high schooler, just a couple of years into his own band and writing original music, he caught Maroon 5 at a free Thursday-night show called Dancing in the District right as they were first coming out. Watching them on stage and feeling that energy flipped a switch: "I want to feel that. I want to be that dude." A cool full-circle moment from an artist with 10 number ones of his own now.
