At their 20-week ultrasound, Theo's parents learned he had a severe birth defect: his intestines were developing outside of his body. They went to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, where at 26 weeks doctors performed a clinical-trial surgery on Theo while he was still inside his mom, closing his abdomen and placing his organs back so he could grow properly. It was one of the first times this had been done successfully at that level, and today Theo is a healthy five-month-old. A shout out to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
